I’m thrilled to announce the publication of my new book, Writing the Change I Want to See: 300+ Social Justice Journal Writing Prompts About Race, Inequality, Gender, Climate Change and More, now available on Amazon! This project has been a labor of love, taking over two years to bring to fruition, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.
Why I Wrote This Book

As a long-time journal writer and social justice activist, and a former high school English teacher, I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of writing to foster critical thinking and inspire action. My journey with this book began with a simple yet profound idea: to create a resource that encourages individuals to engage deeply with the social issues that shape our world. I used similar journal writing prompts in my own classroom to encourage students to write about social justice issues that mattered to them. This book is similar to other NaJoWriMo related books I’ve published.
The world around us is constantly evolving, presenting new challenges and demanding our attention. From issues of race and economic inequality to gender differences, climate change, ageism, and disability, these topics can feel overwhelming. My aim with Writing the Change I Want to See is to provide a safe and productive space for introspection, allowing you to process your thoughts and emotions, gain clarity, and explore your beliefs and values. It’s about connecting your personal experiences with larger social issues, fostering empathy and understanding, and ultimately, inspiring you to take a stand on the issues you’re passionate about.
